Our Story
About Bendia:
India and I both attended freshmen year of college at Morehouse and Spelman. I remember the first time I saw her; I instantly knew that this was the girl that I would marry. It still blows my mind to this day because I didn’t know much about her, but I quickly began asking questions in order to learn her story.
Graduating from high school and starting at Morehouse I had the goal of doing really well within my field of study and working to become a member of my fraternity. By the time sophomore year rolled around I chased India on a regular basis.
Fourteen years later and we are married, and just birthed the love of our lives Tatum Lindsey Collier. India is a board-certified orthodontist, practicing here in Atlanta, and I am a corporate professional. We both find joy in giving back to our communities, and sharing from past experiences to help people grow, develop, learn, and lead.
The name “Bendia” was created by our friends who thought it was funny/creative (it is) to merge my name Ben, and my wife’s name India together. Since then, we have honestly just owned it lol. We hope you find enjoyment, guidance, peace, and entertainment out of our shared blog.
Why are we sharing experiences?
We both have experienced tremendous adversities at a very early age. We also fully understand the challenges of navigating America as black Americans and want to help others with situations that we have previously experienced. India and I are both active mentors, and at times serve as sounding boards for our peers, coworkers, families, and friends. We invite others into this platform to hopefully gain a variety of perspectives from our shared space.
We are both type A highly driven/motivated people who work hard to find our balance within our family, career, faith, friends, and so many other categories. The goal of this space is to help share, learn, listen, grow, and develop a community of people that this may resonate with.
We are currently going through life and learning more about each other and the world day by day, and we are praying that this helps impact at least one person’s life.
